Mrs. Moen, I’d like you to meet Richard Perry. Richard is 18 years old and lives in Harlem, New York.  While playing in a high school basketball game, he severely injured his knee.  He was extremely disheartened to hear he would never be able to play basketball again.  Since basketball was no longer in his future, he enlisted and was sent to Vietnam to fight.  After he arrived in Vietnam, he realized he made an awful decision.  He witnessed many repulsive sights during his campaign, and was wounded on many different occasions.  After most of his battalion is eliminated by the Vietcong’s, he was severely injured in a feeble attempt to flee the hostile area.  He was immediately evacuated to a hospital, where he spent two before being sent home.
